Tree fell on power lines taking days to get repaired

A tree limb fell on our power line and ripped the conduit pipe from our house. They promptly came out and removed the power line and the meter from the house. No instructions from the guys who came from Sawnee EMC. We had an electrician our the same day and although they say they have people working over the weekend, nobody came out.

THEY SHUT OFF MY ELECTRIC SERVICE DURING AN EXTREME HEAT WAVE AND A GLOBAL PANDEMIC FOR BEING 24 DAYS LATE AND HAVE THREATENED MONTHLY TO TURN ME OFF IF I AM ONE DAY LATE. THEY CHARGED ME YET ANOTHER $350 DEPOSIT AND AARE RUINING MY CREDIT! THIS IS SO ILLEGAL AND I AM LOOKING FOR AN ATTORNEY NOW!

Sawnee EMC was significantly impacted and unprepared for Hurricane Zeta. Despite having technicians from their organization review the site and having EMS to assist, there was still no service provided. This company cares more about not getting sued then doing what's right for its customers.

Moving and transferring service to a new location. This company requires another deposit to transfer service , although payment history has been exceptional. This is the most ridiculous company ever. NEVER have I ever experienced anything like this with Georgia Power.

I was set up on budget billing with Sawnee. Last week I checked my bill and it showed a credit of $199. I received an email from Sawnee last night telling me I owe $488.00 By the end of the moth, WHAT? I contacted Sawnee and they told me I had a short fall for the year and that I would have to pay in full by the end of the month. Their telling me this now???? In the middle of the month (December) during the holiday season... I have budget with all of my utility companies, and they tell me every month if I need to pay more or less so this will not happen. That's one problem I have living down here in the south... You have companies like this were a majority of the employee are hired by the buddy system and I don't have a problem with that but... Your education level at these companies is probably no higher than a high school diploma. A person with a high school diploma DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO RUN A BUSINESS.

When you receive your bill in the mail you really only have 2 weeks to pay according to their bill payment deadline contained on the invoice! If you make a payment a day late or for the wrong amount they send a man to your house to personally collect! No call text or letter. This is the most aggressive collection I have ever seen. This company does not care about customers and is a typical monopoly. If you can stay away from them.

My electric was turned off when I had made arrangements pay it in 2 days So I was charged an additional $100 reconnect fee The lady said that was because someone would have to come out to reconnect it Once the credit card was charged The electric was back on in less than 2 minutes WOW That guy got Out her fast Liars I’m suffering from cancer and can’t even pay for my medication but I’m paying someone $100 to flip a switch! To bad they are the only company to choose from

Someone has posted this online "Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation exists to serve the changing needs of members by enhancing the quality of life through active support of community developments and serving the member's energy needs."
That is not what I am experiencing with this company, they rip people and there is nothing to do about it. They have a man-made usage chart that does not reflect the reality and we have been billed more than $3 per day so we can end up paying about $100 per month while my family including my 1-year-old have to endure the cold every day.
I turn on our heater for 15mn a day no matter what we do the EMC will do their best so can charge us more than $3 per day.
That is cheating people, it is not fair when they are the sole company that provides Electricity in our location.
Electricity should not be a luxury but a necessity, one time they cut me off over $4 due to the fact that I was not able to pay their deposit for $400 so they put me in a prepaid account so they can rip us.
I regret Georgia power...
Look at those Man made charts, the less usage chart cost us barely $4 and the other one cost us $3 and something.... Their Customer Service could not splain those charts to us.

You were charged a deposit because you have a bad payment history with them and/or they checked and you have bad credit that shows you can't or won't pay your bills on time all the time. They make YOU pay a deposit so your bad debt isn't spread out amongst others who do take care of their notes. Your entire comment reeks of someone who doesn't pay any of their bills on time(for whatever reason) and expects the world to "work with them." Hopefully, you're posting from a library or friend's house or you could cut whatever internet enabled nonsense allows you to post this and put it on your power...

That is not true i have never missed any utility payments. I got laid off and I spent 6 months before I found a job.

Consequently I end up with low credit score despite my low credit score Georgia power did not ask me a dine for deposit. So don’t talk a nonsense please

Wow opposite experience here but then I regularly pay my bills, sure you’re repeated outages were associated with all those shutoff notices they sent you!

Twice these people screwed up my payments then give you 2 days notice and shut off your electric Charge a $15 late fee when the screw up and don’t apply your payment then $40 to shut off your electric and $40 to turn back on All because they do not apply paymen properly I’m getting an atorney to investigate and calling news media - they are stealing from the public -

If you are moving make sure you find out who your power/electrical provider, Sawnee EMC is the worst. If you ever have a minor financial setback and have 2 disconnects in one year, Sawnee will add a minimum $350 deposit to your account. Charge you $200 if they have to turn your service on after hours on the the weekend! Greed is an understatement. You can go on to their website or call the customer service number and give them an address and they will tell you if they service the area. Trust me, if you ever have a hardship they will not assist in any capacity.

Sawunee EMC

Scheduled a payment almost a month in advanced. Always pay early and try to be a good customer.

I told them we have a picture were the money was withdrawn 23 days and 14 business day in advance. She said they didn't receive it on time and have been having problems with chase bank. So I asked for the late fee to be waved 1 time because I had proof we had attempted to make payment way in advance. Representative from Sawunee didn't care and had no understanding that we had made every attempt at being a good customer and just wanted to throw it off on Chase bank.

I could understand if we were habitual late payers; however we are the total opposite and to get a standard statement like that was just really told me that could care less about my family as a customer and just feel like they can treat my family like a number. I never post complaints online if that tells you anything how I feel about Sawunee and the way I was treated.

Being charged fees for simple keying error

I went on their site to pay my bill. Had it scheduled way in advance. I mistakenly keyed 1 digit off from my bank acct no. Bank rejected it and Sawnee is charging me a $35 nsf fee and a $15 late fee. My bank sent a letter but they refused to waive the fees. I have never paid late and I think this is unfair. I spoke with a manager and she just sat on the phone and didn't really say anything other than "I'm sorry". Several of the customer svc reps agreed that I had never paid late. One even said "surely they will waive this for you" I'm sure this $50 isn't going to make or break them. Obviously they have me because I cannot change power companies.
